Previously, Smith was senior executive director of college relations, a position held since January 2023.  He joined Penn College in 2017 as executive director of the Penn College Foundation. During his eight-year tenure, the Penn College Foundation increased its assets from $15.5 million to $36.5 million and expanded annual scholarship support from $750,000 to $2 million.

In leading the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic and the Penn College Foundation Dinner & Auction, Smith recorded record-breaking revenue for both events, raising nearly $1 million through the Golf Classic and $650,000 from the biennial Dinner & Auction.

Smith also has served on several committees across campus, including the Campus Impact Group, Global Experiences Advisory Board and the Scholarship Committee.

Prior to Penn College, Smith was director of leadership giving, director of annual giving and annual fund assistant, all at Elmira College. Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg and a master’s in management from Elmira College.

“Kyle is a team-focused leader who produces mission-critical results, and I am thrilled he has agreed to embrace this role,” said President Michael J. Reed. “He has over 14 years of progressive leadership experience and a strong background in business and economics. He’s been a key contributor to the growth and success of College Relations throughout his tenure at the institution. I’m confident he can lead the department’s talented team and continue the positive momentum that’s been established during the past several years.”

Smith’s community affiliations include coaching Little League Baseball and youth soccer. He also serves as co-president of Mansfield Little League. He is a graduate of Leadership Lycoming.
