Spotlight on Sports: Davis, Petroski go 3-0 at Chocolate Duals

Last week in review: Closing out their pre-Christmas schedules, the wrestling and women’s basketball teams both saw action.

WRESTLING
Last week’s highlights: Scoring most of its points in the upper weight classes during a 1-2 team day in the Messiah University Chocolate Duals on Saturday, Carter Davis, of York, at 165 pounds and Jason Petroski, of Randolph, New Jersey, at 184 both posted 3-0 days, Nic Brotzman, of Marietta, was 1-0 at 285, and Gavin Gomes, of Denville, New Jersey, finished 2-1 at 174. Also, Blake Dergham, of Slatington, ended 2-1 at 133.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Last week’s highlights: Gigi Parlante, of Williamsport, scored 17 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Breana Valentine, of Fairfield, scored 16 points and Mia Patterson, of Loyalsock Township, added 12 points, but it wasn’t enough in Monday’s 11-point loss at Marywood University.

Hosting St. Elizabeth University on Wednesday, Parlante recorded her sixth double-double of the season with a 16-point, 18-rebound effort, but St. Elizabeth used a 14-4 fourth-quarter scoring advantage, 9-2 over the last six minutes, for its win.
