City & State published the list of honorees on Nov. 24, and Lester will be honored at an event in Philadelphia on Dec. 3.

“For evidence of Ellyn Lester’s impact on the building profession, look no further than the hundreds of students she’s mentored to become architects, engineers and construction managers,” the article notes.

In addition to being an active mentor to Penn College students, Lester is a thought leader in providing mentorship in construction-and-architecture-related work environments.

Lester is the 2020 winner of the National Association of Women in Construction’s Carol A. Kueker Construction Education Visionary Award. She was also named to City & State Pennsylvania’s 2024 Trailblazers in Building & Infrastructure list.

City & State covers local and state politics and policy in Pennsylvania and New York.

Lester oversees Penn College's architecture & sustainable design, building construction, construction management, and heating, ventilation & air conditioning programs.
