The 14th episode of “WildCast,” a podcast produced by Penn College Athletics, features head baseball coach Chris Howard.
Howard, who was recruited by the University of Oklahoma on a football scholarship, ultimately was a catcher for the Seattle Mariners. His two years with the Mariners’ Class AA-affiliate Williamsport Bills brought him to Bowman Field, where he had spent time as a toddler when his father played in the minor leagues, and where he would later coach the Wildcats.
In the podcast, Howard shares his journey from multisport athlete to successful coach, reflecting on his early experiences in sports, the challenges of transitioning from football to baseball, and the unexpected twists of the Major League Draft.
