Friday, August 8, 2025

An article in Avionics News – written by retired Penn College aviation faculty member Thomas D. Inman (who continues to teach part-time) – highlights a new aviation-industry student competition at which Penn College students captured several top prizes.

The article, “Talent on Display,” is printed in the magazine’s August 2025 edition and details the Aircraft Electronics Association’s inaugural Avionics Skills Competition, held during the 2025 AEA International Convention & Trade Show in Phoenix. Four Penn College aviation maintenance technology students competed and collectively scored the most points of the four competing schools.

Avionics News is published monthly by AEA and bills itself as "the voice of the general aviation electronics industry."

At the inaugural AEA Avionics Skills Competition, Penn College aviation maintenance technology student Jocelin Kinsey (at left) troubleshoots a Garmin GTN750 integrated avionics system wiring harness. It was one five skill tests at the event. Kinsey scored the most points among all competitors.
