Britni Mohney, head women's basketball coach
Head women’s basketball coach Britni E. Mohney is the guest on the latest episode of “WildCast,” a podcast by Penn College’s athletics department.
Mohney, who led the Wildcats to the conference playoffs for the third consecutive season in 2024-25, is a graduate of Allegheny College.
“After I was done playing at Allegheny, I kind of knew that I wasn’t done with basketball being a part of my life and a part of my journey,” she tells podcast listeners.
She joined the coaching staff at Utica University as a graduate assistant while earning her master’s, then became an assistant at Keuka College before accepting her first head coaching role at Salem College in North Carolina at age 25.
“I think taking that leap … and moving to North Carolina by myself … I really found myself in my 20s and became more independent and became more of who I wanted to be because nobody knew who I was,” she said. “It was a fresh start for me as a person and as a coach, and it was an exciting time to start my journey.”
In the podcast, she shares how she tries to impart that same independence in her players. She also discusses why she was excited to come to Penn College, her insights on recruitment and memorable coaching moments.
“WildCast” – produced by Penn College Athletics – offers in-depth conversations and gives die-hard fans, proud alumni and passionate parents an insider's look at what it takes to succeed as a Wildcat. New episodes are being released weekly throughout the summer.
