Coach Mensch gives 'WildCast' team talk

Monday, June 9, 2025

“Be great people at the end of the day,” says Tyler Mensch, head coach of men’s soccer at Pennsylvania College of Technology. “Represent yourself on and off the field as best as you possibly can.”

In the third episode of the “WildCast” podcast, Coach Mensch shares his philosophy, challenges, and most memorable and proudest moments. With 10 years of leading the men’s soccer team at Penn College, Mensch has a solid history of bringing stability and inspiration to this vital slice of campus life.

When he arrived at Penn College in May 2015, Mensch found a beautiful campus and a down-to-earth, friendly, family-oriented foundation onto which he could build a successful men’s soccer program. Wildcat Athletics had just completed its first full year of provisional membership in NCAA Division III, and the electric atmosphere was beginning to be ignited.

For “WildCast” listeners, he touches on the evolution of his program and offers advice for aspiring players. Mensch also discusses how he adapts his coaching style to meet the needs of today's student-athletes (something he knows a thing or two about, having written his thesis on the subject of coaching styles) and advises on creating a positive team culture with the help of upperclassmen who serve as mentors to new players.

Weekly “WildCast” episodes are premiering throughout the summer, giving listeners a behind-the-scenes look at Penn College Athletics. Stay tuned for more!
