Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Robert & Maureen Dunham Children’s Learning Center is among 22 recipients of gold-level recognition in Pennsylvania’s 2024 Equity in Early Childhood Education Champion Awards.
Gold, silver or bronze recognition was awarded to 37 recipients based on their ability to enhance equitable practices within their program as part of providing quality services for children and families, promoting strong starts and the lifelong benefits of education for all children.
Honorees have shown to be equity champions through their work embracing diversity and full inclusion as strengths, upholding fundamental principles of fairness and justice, and working to eliminate structural inequities that limit equitable learning opportunities.
Pennsylvania College of Technology received gold-level recognition in Pennsylvania’s 2024 Equity in Early Childhood Education Champion Awards.
“It is an honor to receive this recognition,” said Hillary E. Hofstrom, vice president for people and culture at Penn College. “It highlights our commitment to equity, inclusion and education for all of the children in our care. We believe every child benefits from the foundation of a diverse and inclusive learning environment. This award recognizes the value we place on the future of our youngest tomorrow makers here at Penn College.”
Award winners were celebrated in the Pennsylvania Capitol Rotunda in Harrisburg on April 24.
“Healthy and inclusive learning environments give our children a strong foundation to grow and thrive. Every child, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background, should have the opportunity to celebrate their individual identity and feel welcomed while in our early education programs,” said Val Arkoosh, secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. “I am grateful to the dedicated professionals honored today who, through their work, demonstrate their steadfast commitment to Pennsylvania’s children and their future by creating inclusive and safe spaces for them to learn and succeed.”

Mumin, state Education Department secretary. “Through their dedication, they pave the way for every child to have the freedom to chart their own course and the opportunity to succeed. Their unwavering commitment to quality care ignites hope, transforms lives and builds bridges to a brighter tomorrow for all.”
The Children’s Learning Center serves Penn College students and employees whose children need high-quality, on-campus care and education while their parents work or attend classes. It is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
