Community Arts Center awarded $5,000 from Woodlands Bank

The Community Arts Center received a $5,000 donation from Woodlands Bank as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program.

“We at Woodlands Bank couldn’t be happier to be able to continue to support the Community Arts Center, a crowning-jewel venue and organization that has endeavored to bring a cultural depth to the region for decades through its shows as well as its educational offerings to students across the region,” said Jon Conklin, chairman, president and CEO of Woodlands Bank.

"The importance of its mission cannot be overstated, and Woodlands Bank’s ability to utilize the EITC program allows us to maximize our support and keep those dollars at work in our community enriching the lives of all those who reside here."

The funding will go to support the Educational Series performances offered to students in the area.

Annually since 2007, the Community Arts Center has been able to provide thousands of students access to exceptional arts programming that enhances the classroom curriculum of nine school districts across a multicounty geographic reach in Northcentral Pennsylvania. The programming also supports and enhances local district curriculums by providing instructors with supporting resources and lesson plans that encourage artifact building by their students.

“The annual Educational Series is one of our favorite community events, and we’re very thankful for the EITC funding provided by Woodlands Bank. It’s truly magical to see the awe on the faces of area schoolchildren as they enter the CAC for a show – many for the first time!” said Jim Dougherty, executive director.

The Community Arts Center is approved as an Educational Improvement Organization by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development. The EITC program provides tax credits to eligible companies that do business in the commonwealth when they contribute to scholarship organizations, educational improvement organizations and/or pre-kindergarten scholarship organizations.

“We are so grateful for the ongoing support from Woodlands Bank,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer in charge of development for the Arts Center. “They have partnered with the CAC for years to help with our Educational Series program.”

Funding for the educational programs is derived from various sources, including EITC funds, donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.
