STEM Academy guests gather with their hosts at the main campus entrance. Second from left is William A. Schlosser, an emergency management and homeland security instructor; Melissa L. Furman, simulation laboratory coordinator for nursing education, is at right.
The group learned about basic incident management software, advanced mapping systems and how radios work within the Emergency Management department. That was followed by a mock disaster in the nursing lab with Melissa L. Furman, simulation laboratory coordinator for nursing education.
"The cadets had tons of questions about what emergency management actually is, but also about what degrees Penn College has and how those degrees apply to real-world jobs," said William A. Schlosser, an emergency management and homeland security instructor and the Pennsylvania Wing's commander. "I was impressed!"
