College, Mount Nittany Medical Center Extend Agreement

Wednesday, April 4, 2012

Pennsylvania College of Technology and Mount Nittany Medical Center recently entered a three-year clinical affiliation agreement.

The agreement provides for use of the hospital's radiology department for clinical instruction for students enrolled in the college's associate-degree radiography major.

As part of the agreement, Mount Nittany Medical Center provides $24,000 a year over the next three years (totaling $72,000 over the three-year agreement), to support clinical supervision of approximately 20 radiography students who complete their 24-month clinical experience rotations at the hospital.

The grant is used to augment the salary of Penn College's clinicalsupervisor of radiography, who provides 12-month, full-time radiography student supervision in Mount Nittany Medical Center's radiology department.

The initial clinical affiliation agreement between Mount Nittany Medical Center and Penn College was established in 1995 through the efforts of Robert J. Slothus, associate professor and director of radiography at the college. A similar agreement was developed in 1990 with Susquehanna Health.

Since the inception of the agreements, funds received from both institutions total $775,500.
