Manufacturing company endows scholarship at Penn College

A manufacturer of fiber optic and copper network cabling has endowed a scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Leviton recently presented the college with a $25,000 gift to establish the scholarship. The donation places the company – a Corporate Tomorrow Maker – in the Ambassadors Society ($25,000-$49,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.

In 2020, Leviton acquired Berk-Tek, a leading manufacturer of network cabling in New Holland. The New Holland location is one of the largest dedicated four-pair copper cabling manufacturing facilities in the country. Berk-Tek has a second site in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, that manufacturers fiber optic cabling also used in data networks. Today, Berk-Tek’s legacy of quality continues under the Leviton brand.

The addition of Berk-Tek’s cabling products to Leviton’s network connectivity portfolio allows Leviton to provide complete end-to-end copper and fiber structured cabling systems. These systems are used to connect data centers, commercial office buildings and factories around the world.

Biddle, senior corporate relations director. “The company’s commitment will help our Tomorrow Makers access hands-on technology in high-demand fields. It will also promote the Leviton name to our real-world-ready students.”

The Leviton Manufacturing Co. Inc. Scholarship may be used by the recipient to defray the costs of tuition, fees, books, tools, required instructional supplies and any other eligible education expenses. Preference will be given to students from Adams, Berks, Chester, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Perry or York counties who are majoring in polymer engineering, automation engineering technology: mechatronics or mechatronics technology.

The scholarship will be renewable for students who maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
