Gallery Announces People’s Choice Winner for ‘100 Works’
Ronni N. Warner, a junior enrolled in pre-applied health studies, won the honor for her work, “Traveling Through Amelia,” a black-and-white print relating to the exhibit’s “Past, Present, Future” theme.
“This photo, which is actually a blend of three digital photos, reminds me of the theme because I can see the past in the sand and the shells, the present by the footprints imprinted on the sand, and the future in the tree reaching toward the light in the sky,” said Warner, a resident of Muncy and native of Bellefonte. “The blend of the photos reminds me of life as a process, and that process includes all of the elements of this theme.”
The People’s Choice award was given to the artwork receiving the most votes from gallery visitors during the “100 Works!” exhibit, which ran Oct. 10 through Nov. 9. Seven other works received awards at the opening of the exhibit as part of its juried showcase.
“100 Works!” accepted original two- and three-dimensional artworks in any medium from Penn College students, alumni, faculty, staff and retirees, as well as alumni and retirees of the college’s predecessors: Williamsport Area Community College and Williamsport Technical Institute.
“We had a wonderful response to the ‘100 Works!’ exhibition from both the artists and visitors,” said Penny Griffin Lutz, manager of The Gallery at Penn College. “The exhibit included the work of full-time professional artists, amateurs and everyone in-between, but it was all tied together by their connection to the college. I want to thank each and every participant for their commitment to this celebration of the visual arts.”
The Gallery at Penn College serves as an instructional resource for Penn College students and a cultural asset to the college and community.
