Called to help people, Savannah is honing her skills sets and exploring her professional passions through a variety of academic and career resources across campus. Inspired by faculty and the vast opportunities within her industry, she is well on her way to transforming tomorrow's workforce.
The best thing about the field of human services and restorative justice is the collective desire to help and support people. There are hundreds of ways you can take my degree and tailor it. I have peers interested in being parole officers to help folks coming out of the legal system reintegrate with society and find themselves while others are interested in helping people recover from a substance abuse disorder.
My favorite professor is Sarah Moore. Her teaching style is great for learning and retention of information and she genuinely cares for her students and advocates for us. She earnestly listens and clearly enjoys the courses that she teaches.
My calling has always been to help people and this is where my skills are the strongest. I need to do more job shadowing and work in more varied positions to confidently answer this question. I have always loved and been interested in psychology; it is one of my strongest skills and true crime fascinates me. I am leaning towards, as of right now, working in a forensics position—forensic psychology, criminal profiling, or a criminal investigation career. I am excited to see if my position as a Student College Relations Assistant helps me ignite a new passion for donor relations and working closely with constituents, because nonprofit sector work could also be on the table for me.
For all that you have done to positively impact the collegiate experience for my peers and I, thank you. I do not have words to express how much your generosity means and the impact it has on the professional and personal development of Penn College’s scholars.
