Q&A with Marcello
HOW DID YOU LEARN ABOUT PENN COLLEGE?
I heard about Penn College through family friends. My father looked into the school and thought that because I was a student who didn't love to be stuck in a classroom all day, Penn College might be the right fit for me.
WHAT WERE THE TOP 3 FACTORS IN YOUR DECISION TO COME TO PENN COLLEGE?
I thought Penn College would be a good fit, because campus is close to my home in Jersey. They also had high-level NCAA athletics and offer extremely high job placement rates.
WERE YOU SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR A HANDS-ON EDUCATION? WHY OR WHY NOT?
Yes, I was looking for a hands-on education with the bachelor's degree to back it up. The main reason I want the hands-on education is because I enjoy moving around and being somewhere new when it comes to working. Penn College is also awesome because with my degree, I could always land myself a management position if I ever decide I no longer want to work with my hands every day.
WHY HVAC?
I chose HVAC because I had prior experience in the field. I also liked that you need to know a little bit of everything when it comes to the heating and cooling industry.
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION OF OUR CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY?
My first time on campus I was slightly worried and felt like I never knew where everything was, but after a while I became comfortable with it.
WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF CLASS?
I play men's lacrosse at Penn College, and I am a captain of the team along with being on leadership council. I also enjoy doing community service with my teammates and hanging out with my friends and puppy.
WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO BE A PART OF A TEAM?
Being a part of a team is great. You are never alone on campus, and everywhere you go, you see one of the guys.
IF A FRIEND WAS INTERESTED IN PURSUING A DEGREE FROM PENN COLLEGE, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THEM?
If a friend from high school wanted to transfer to Penn College, I would tell him to do it. Staying in your comfort zone your whole life is wasting your potential. You'll never know where you could end up without taking calculated risks.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?
I would say my dream job is a job that I am happy at, making a comfortable wage with a company where I feel seen.
