Lycoming Engines specializes in engineering, manufacturing, servicing, and supporting propulsion solutions in general aviation, unmanned air and land, and specialized services. Lycoming's piston engines power more than half of the world's general aviation fleet—both rotary-wing and fixed-wing. Lycoming also provides engines for military training schools and other specialized applications. Lycoming Engines is an operating division of Avco Corporation.
Lycoming Engines and Penn College both call Williamsport home and share a long history of supporting each other’s goals.
Lycoming participates in program advisory committees to help ensure students are learning the skills we believe are required in our industry. Penn College alumni come to Lycoming with the training and experience needed to start working on day one. In a manufacturing environment, productivity is a priority; by having a new employee that is knowledgeable and ready to work, they become an important asset the day they are hired.
Lycoming Engines builds exciting products, aircraft engines; and we build them using modern equipment and processes. This, coupled with a competitive salary and benefits package, make Lycoming Engines a very attractive employer for Penn College graduates. We are proud to say that over 50% of Lycoming employees are Penn College alumni.
A hands-on trade should not be seen as inferior to an academic degree. Hands-on trades, like welding, machining, and mechanics have been overlooked by students for decades. Because of this, there is a huge void of talent in the industry. With Penn College, you have an almost endless amount of choices in different industries. You can choose to be part of an industry that is exciting to you and you can make a good living while doing it.
"Lycoming Engines is only as strong as its community. Through partnerships, such as the Penn College Corporate Tomorrow Maker Program, we are ensuring a skilled workforce and continuous development for our team members to power today and tomorrow.”
Penn College's strong corporate partnerships impact every step of the student journey–from scholarships and equipment donations to internships and employment opportunities.
