Lycoming Engines Service School
The Lycoming Engines Service School training program is designed to assist maintenance professionals, pilots, aircraft owners, and experimental aircraft builders in acquiring a better understanding of their engine and systems. Penn College is solely authorized by Lycoming Engines to conduct the Lycoming Engines Service School. The 5-day, 40 hour program will consist of 4 hours of theory-based training and 4 hours of hands-on training each day. The training hours in this program can be used for qualification for the IA renewal program FAR 65.93(a)(4).
- Comprehensive Skill Development: Acquire a better understanding of construction, theory of operation, and servicing of Lycoming reciprocating engines.
- Practical Learning Experience: Engage in hands-on engine disassembly and reassembly.
- IA Renewal Program: Earn training hours to meet instructional requirements of IA renewal program FAR 65.93(a)(4).

Learning Outcomes
Participants learn about:
- Lycoming service letters, bulletins, instructions, and other publications
- Engine model coding
- Crankshafts, crankcases, valve trains, and camshafts
- Systems: exhaust, oil, ignition, induction, fuel, and turbocharger
- Assemblies: cylinder, connecting rod, and piston
- Proper procedures for engine disassembly and reassembly
