The Surgical Technology program offers a variety of instrumentation for a diverse lab experience. The Surgical Technology laboratory has the capability to simulate the sterilization process, a vital part of Surgical Technology education. The Surgical Technology Laboratory has two mock operatories where students gain valuable experience prior to entering the clinical portion of the program. The Surgical Technology laboratory is equipped with four functioning surgical scrub sinks. In the laboratory setting, Surgical Technology students spend time learning the various roles of the operating room team members. The Surgical Technology mock operatories provide functioning operating room equipment and supplies. Learning surgical instrumentation is a major part of the Surgical Technology program. The surgical technologist in the scrub role is practiced under instructor supervision, in a positive learning environment. Video monitoring equipment in the laboratory setting provides instructors and students with the ability to visualize student performance allowing for instructor and student feedback.
