Spectacular. Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams had multiple highlights during their record-setting 11th season as members of the United East Conference and eighth season as full-fledged members of the NCAA. The college finished third of 17 teams in the United East Presidents’ Cup, which annually recognizes the athletic achievements of its members.
Pennsylvania College of Technology nursing students promoted community health through a series of Donate Life events, designed to educate the community about organ donation and encourage individuals to register as donors. They joined student groups from 11 other colleges in the Gift of Life College Challenge, and it was announced in June that Penn College’s students finished in second place for their efforts and registered 265 people to become organ donors – the most of any college in the challenge.
Three Pennsylvania College of Technology educators presented at two conferences hosted simultaneously by the Pennsylvania State Education Association at The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Kaysey L. Beury, coordinator of student success solutions; Jennifer R. Wahl, instructor of social sciences; and Craig A. Miller, professor of history/political science and department head of social sciences and humanities, delivered engaging workshops.
Pennsylvania College of Technology added to its storied history in Baja SAE competitions with a ninth-place showing out of 84 schools in the recent endurance race at Mechanicsville, Maryland. The clutch performance at Baja SAE Maryland represents the 16th time Penn College has recorded a top-10 finish in the endurance competition since 2011.
Paving a pathway to a career in the manufacturing sector, the Advanced Manufacturing Pre-Apprenticeship program, coordinated by Workforce Development at Penn College, recently graduated another cohort of high school students from across Pennsylvania. Reflecting the AMP program’s continued success as schools expand career development opportunities to prepare students for college and the workforce, this spring’s four-month offering enrolled 120 high school participants.
Nine industry professionals recently spent three days immersed in the Injection Molding Processing Fundamentals Workshop at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Plastics Innovation & Resource Center.
