Pennsylvania College of Technology's SkillsUSA student organization will host six District 6 skills competitions at the college on Jan. 29. SkillsUSA is a national student organization that, in an effort to alleviate skills shortages in the workforce, develops employability, participatory and leadership skills.

Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty members recently attended Autodesk University in Las Vegas, where one of the group J.D. Mather, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design was among the presenters.

Katherine A. Walker, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design at Pennsylvania College of Technology, spoke at the Oct. 8 graduation ceremony at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy. Walker is a longtime member of the institution's academic advisory committee.

ADDA, an organization for designers, drafters, architects, illustrators and technical artists, provides certification to recognize schools whose design/drafting curriculum meets established and approved standards.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member recently presented two papers at the Autodesk University conference held in Las Vegas. Jeffrey D. Mather, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design, presented "Working With Neutral Format Surface and Solid Models in Autodesk Inventor," one of 11 Autodesk Inventor "PowerTrack" sessions that were offered during the conference.

The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies held a camp for 20 ninth- and 10th-grade students June 11-13. Campers were introduced to a variety of engineering technology careers by providing: information on engineering technology careers, hands-on workshops, tours of engineering facilities and an opportunity to network with current Penn College students and faculty.

Pennsylvania College of Technology was well-represented at Autodesk University 2007, held Nov. 27-30 in Las Vegas. Autodesk University is the world's largest annual gathering of computer aided design and related professionals, with more than 10,000 working professionals, industry experts and Autodesk executives in attendance.
