Over 30 Penn College engineering design technology students recently connected their classroom experience with real-world applications by touring High Steel Structures LLC in Williamsport. The company is a leading steel fabricator of bridge components and heavy building girders.

Although they didn’t achieve their typical top-10 finish, the Pennsylvania College of Technology team performed well at Baja SAE Carolina and is already working toward next season.

With a $300,000 gift from alumnus Larry A. Ward, Pennsylvania College of Technology is creating an innovative lab on its main campus to bridge the gap between the design and manufacturability of products.

As part of a partnership that dates to the excavation of Lamade Stadium in 1959, the Little League Baseball World Series yields hands-on learning activities for Penn College students. In just the series' first four days, photographers captured the activities of paramedic, baking & culinary, and welding students.

Pennsylvania College of Technology welding students are the spark behind an eye-catching addition to the Little League Baseball World Series complex in South Williamsport: a roughly 7-foot-tall stainless steel globe structure featuring metal cutouts shaped to represent the continents. “This is probably one of the most unique projects we’ve done," said Michael R. Allen, instructor and co-department head of welding.

Pennsylvania College of Technology added to its storied history in Baja SAE competitions with a ninth-place showing out of 84 schools in the recent endurance race at Mechanicsville, Maryland. The clutch performance at Baja SAE Maryland represents the 16th time Penn College has recorded a top-10 finish in the endurance competition since 2011.

Their classes for the spring semester ended last month, but 14 Pennsylvania College of Technology students face a big test June 12-15. They will be competing against 101 other schools at Baja SAE Maryland.

A group of industrial design students from Pennsylvania College of Technology recently toured Globus Medical, a leading orthopedic medical device company headquartered in Audubon. The students are enrolled in their major’s Medical Device Design class, taught by instructor Catherine A. Krawiec, a former employee of Globus Medical’s spine division.
