Penn College's Diesel Performance Club and its 1959 B-61 Model Mack drag truck were revved up to return to Motorama, the annual motorsports extravaganza held Feb. 17-18 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. The students enjoyed sharing their passion for Penn College and its diesel technology major with event attendees and showing off their treasured truck. With more than 5,000 participants and 50,000 motorsport spectators, there was plenty of networking to do.

Even a few robins were spotted on campus as Pennsylvania College of Technology opened its doors to a flock of guests for the first Open House of Spring 2024, held Saturday. Although the weather was a bit brisk, sunshine lifted spirits and "lit" potential paths on the college’s main campus, as well as its nearby Lumley Aviation Center and Schneebeli Earth Science Center.

More than 100 dental professionals attended a continuing education event hosted on campus on Friday by Penn College’s Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association. The seminar, titled “Infection Control in Practice,” was led by registered dental hygienist Angelina Marinucci, a clinical education manager for Hu-Friedy Mfg. For the second consecutive year, Pennsylvania College of Technology physician assistant graduates have bested the national first-attempt pass rate for the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam. Ninety-four percent of Penn College’s Class of 2023 graduates – who completed their degrees in August – passed the exam on their first attempt, while 100% of the 2022 graduating class passed on their first try. The nationwide first-attempt pass rate for both years is 92%.

More than 90 aviation students experienced a Gulfstream G280 business jet last week, thanks to an alumnus and his employer: Constellation Brands Inc. Patrick Herring, who received an aviation maintenance technician certificate from the college in 2000, arranged for the twin-engine jet to travel from Rochester, New York, to the Lumley Aviation Center.
