Members of the Penn College community quickly and benevolently responded to Student Activities' "Giving Tree" this season, filling a Campus Center workroom with presents destined for more than 200 clients of Lycoming County Children and Youth Services.

Parents, grandparents and special friends of youngsters attending Penn College's Children's Learning Center enjoyed a buffet breakfast and/or lunch as part of Parent Appreciation Day in Penn's Inn on Friday. The center holds the event a seasonal celebration of thanks and joy as the holidays approach and each fall's semester draws to an end.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro is offering classes for a medical billing and coding specialist certificate. The part-time certificate curriculum is approved by the National Healthcareer Association, which certifies the competency of newly trained professionals in allied health.

Carl J. Bower Jr., a horticulture instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been elected to a three-year term on the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Board of Directors.

Regis C. Kohler, associate professor of radiography at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently asked to review a radiography textbook. Kohler reviewed "Textbook of Radiographic Positioning and Related Anatomy, 7th Edition," written by Kenneth L. Bontrager and John Lampignano and published by Mosby.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 19, for the more than 350 students who have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2009 semester. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. The student speaker will be Micah A.

Nearly 100 people attended a recent Inspection Authorization renewal seminar at Penn College's Lumley Aviation Center. Aviation maintenance technicians with an Airframe and Powerplant certificate and at least two years' experience can receive inspection authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration.
