The Facilities Committee of Governance reminds all employees and students who use campus smoking areas to be responsible for keeping their smoke away from building entrances and ventilation ducts. This polite reminder of smoking policy is offered in the best interest of everyone's health and safety. Thank you for your cooperation and concern for others.

Ashley A. McClain, 18, of Bush Hollow, a student in the office information technology program in the School of Business and Computer Technologies, died Thursday, Feb. 14, in Snow Shoe Township, Centre County. A memorial brick will be placed in her honor in the Remembrance Garden, and the Penn College flags will be lowered to half-staff.

Breakfast service by students in the Breakfast and Brunch course starts Monday, Feb. 18, 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant.The menu is available on the Le Jeune Chef Web site. Reservations are recommended for groups of six or more. Phone 320-2433. This is a practice lab in the college restaurant.

The Gallery at Penn College will host a digital photo stitching workshop with one of this semester's featured gallery artists, Gary Mesa-Gaido, on Feb. 16. Mesa-Gaido, professor of art at Moorehead (Ky.) State University, will teach participants to digitally stitch a series of photographs together to create a cohesive, panoramic image. Carissa M. Waiksnoris, 19, of Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, a student in the human services major at Penn College in the Fall 2007 semester, died Friday, Jan. 4, from injuries suffered in a vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Copper Township, Clearfield County. Penn College flags were lowered to half-staff, and a memorial brick will be placed in her honor in the Remembrance Garden.

The Madigan Library announces the results ofits first-ever Mixed Nuts Casino event (cosponsored with Student Activities), which kicked off expanded hours for finals preparation and attracted a number of students for a poker tournament and other pre-exam diversions:

Due to the great success of last year's Donkey Basketball event during Homecoming, and thanks to overwhelming response from the Penn College community, Donkey Basketball is coming back. As part ofthe college's2007 Homecoming celebration, Donkey Basketball will be heldat 8 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 11, in Bardo Gym. Donkey riders are needed. The teams will be faculty/staff vs. students.
