Engineering design technology and engineering CAD technology majors in multiple sections of Technical Drawing I and Detailing I classes (CCD 103-104) recently participated in the sixth annual virtual pumpkin-carving contest. Engineering design technology students enrolled in the Technical Drawing-Related Disciplines course (CCD 237) recently toured High Steel Structures Inc. on West Fourth Street in Williamsport, a few short miles west of Penn College's main campus. More than 40 students had an opportunity to see examples of structural fabrication and design at one of the largest structural steel fabricators in the country; over the past 20 years, the company has fabricated more than 1 million tons of structural steel.

Career Day brought hundreds of ninth-12th graders to campus on Thursday to explore more than 30 activities offered by employees and students to help high-schoolers learn about the wide variety of career options available to them. A serious knee injury on the cusp of soccer season rendered a choice for Jakob A. LeMay: sit and stew or strive and succeed. The Pennsylvania College of Technology student chose the latter, a decision benefiting his future career prospects and today’s outdoor enthusiasts.

Among the latest additions to the Pennsylvania College of Technology community are new full-time faculty members for the Fall 2019 semester, as provided by the Human Resources Office (all effective Aug. 15).

A foundation promoting manufacturing careers awarded one-third of its recent scholarships to Pennsylvania College of Technology students. A dozen Penn College students were among 36 nationwide who received manufacturing scholarships from Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs. The scholarships, valued between $1,500 and $2,500, are for Fall 2019. “I couldn’t be prouder,” said David R.

A dozen residential Pre-College Programs and a daytime Creative Art Camp brought hundreds of young women and men to Penn College's campuses in mid-June, providing hands-on entry to the myriad career opportunities reflected in the institution's postsecondary curriculum.
