College Council, part of Pennsylvania College of Technology's internal Governance system, has commended the widespread cooperation and advocacy that resulted in a phenomenal celebration of President Michael J. Reed's inauguration and the Wildcat Weekend (Oct. 21-23) that followed.

President Emeritus Davie Jane Gilmour, assisted by Board of Directors Chair Sen. Gene Yaw, presents the Presidential Medallion to Penn College President Michael J. Reed during an Oct. 21 inauguration ceremony at the Community Arts Center. Seated (from left) are Sydney M. Telesky, Student Government Association president; John F. Chappo, assistant professor of history/history of technology; and Shannon L. Massey, senior vice president for Lycoming Engines.

"For more than a century, Penn College has been a pillar in Williamsport, both in supporting and receiving support from the local community. The strength of that relationship was clearly evident throughout the weekend festivities beginning on Oct. 21. College Council would like to express its gratitude to the members of the Penn College community, the local community and our alumni. Your contributions and dedication were a pivotal part of making the weekend of President Mike’s inauguration an incredibly successful and memorable event.

"Beginning on Friday, the College Relations team provided a seamless day and evening of events celebrating Dr. Reed’s official installment as Penn College president. Seeing community members in the audience, listening to the Uptown Music Collective on stage and watching the Bald Eagle Battalion Army ROTC present the colors, perfectly illustrates how much we value our community engagement.

"We also recognize the hard work and dedication of the many student groups who hosted activities or participated in events throughout the weekend. Finally, the presence of our valued alumni, both in attendance at events, and as representatives for the respective breweries during the Alumni & Friends Tent Party was very much appreciated and did not go without notice.

"The members of College Council truly appreciate all that our College Relations team; student organizations; and the Penn College, local and alumni communities did to make President Mike’s inauguration and the first-ever Wildcat Weekend an immense success!"
