Esports team ends state tourney in fourth place
During qualifying rounds in Overwatch and League of Legends on Feb. 7-8, the team competed virtually from its home campus – and the newly opened Wildcat Den in Madigan Library.
Teams that advanced to the finals of Pennsylvania's collegiate championship fought it out Feb. 15 before a live audience at Club XL, a popular Harrisburg music venue.
"Our Overwatch team battled against Penn State University, Pitt-Bradford, Penn State Harrisburg and Widener University to make it to the finals," coach Joshua D. Young said.
"This was our maiden trip to an esports final and we learned what it takes to compete at the next level. We battled fiercely against the top teams and ended up fourth out of the 16 schools that competed.”
Young said the team had a "great group of fans cheering us on the entire time": more than a dozen classmates, friends and family who traveled to the event.
