Penn College Basketball Teams Have 2-3 Week

Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s and women’s basketball teams went a combined 2-3 over the past week while the college’s wrestling team dropped its only match.
Women’s Basketball
After Penn College used big second halves to win its previous two games the week before, on the road Jan. 25 at North Eastern Athletic Conference North Division-leading SUNYIT it was the home team that had the best second half en route to an 84-68 win that snapped a three-game Wildcats’ win streak. Jamie Steer, of South Williamsport, led Penn College with 24 points, hiking her career total to 899, and Alicia Ross, of Williamsport, added 15 points.
Trailing by 10 points at the intermission, Penn College exploded for 60 second-half points on its way to an 82-73 NEAC home win over Penn State Berks on Wednesday. Ross led the Wildcats’ offense with 23 points while Steer added 21 and Danielle Mowery, of Shamokin, 16. For the game, Penn College outscored Berks in the paint, 44-28.
At St. Elizabeth College on Saturday, after trailing by four points at the half, it was the home team that excelled in the second half for a 67-58 win that dropped Penn College’s NEAC record to 8-5 and overall mark to 9-8. Steer scored 14 points, hiking her three-year career total to 934, and snared 12 rebounds. Also for the Wildcats, Hannah Schoenly, of Hamburg, scored 12 points.
Through Saturday, Lancaster Bible College led the South Division with an 11-1 record and was followed by Penn State Abington at 9-1, Penn College and Gallaudet both at 8-5, St. Elizabeth at 6-5, Bryn Athyn, 3-7; Penn State Berks 0-10 and Wilson College 0-13.

Wildcats Ezra Adams, of Muncy, scored 22 points and Nathaniel Brown, of Philadelphia, added 10 in a 70-58 loss at NEAC North Division-co-leader SUNYIT on Sunday. Battling tough, Penn College tied the score for the fifth time with 12:06 remaining but a 10-0 run over the next three minutes by the home team settled things.
Back on their own court on Wednesday – with five players scoring in double figures – the Wildcats opened an 11-point halftime lead and went on for an 80-68 conference victory over Penn State Berks to go to 2-9 in the NEAC and 3-15 overall. Thomas Ross, of Williamsport, led the Penn College scoring parade with 14 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds. Also scoring in double digits for the Wildcats were Brown with 13 points, Cass Wisniewski, of Bethel Park, 12; James Boylan, of Newton, New Jersey, 11; and Marquis Delgado, of Mansfield, 10.
Through Saturday, Lancaster Bible led the NEAC Southern Division with a 9-1 record, followed by Gallaudet at 8-3, Penn State Abington at 6-4, Bryn Athyn at 5-5, Penn State Berks 4-6, Penn College 2-9 and Wilson College 2-11.
Wrestling
On Friday at York College, the Wildcats lost, 37-10, to drop to 2-10 on the season. They close out the dual-match portion of their schedule on Saturday at Centenary College. After falling behind York 18-0, three Penn College wrestlers posted wins for all of the team’s points. Slade Storm, of New Oxford, won by a major decision in the 149-pound weight class; Mason Replogle, of New Enterprise, won by decision at 157; and Troy Leid, of Terre Hill, won by decision at 165.
