Tuesday, November 5, 2013
Twenty-one members of Penn College's Horticulture Club and faculty members Carl J. Bower Jr. and Dennis P. Skinner visited Valley Crest landscape company, Norristown; Chanticleer Gardens, Wayne; and Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, on Oct. 30. At Valley Crest, the students got to tour operations and learn more about a commercial landscape company. The group spoke to designer Fred S. Barberra and 2012 ornamental horticulture: landscape technology emphasis graduate Daniel A. Endy, who works for Valley Crest as a field operations manager. Students toured the grounds at Chanticleer Gardens and Scott Arboretum, studying many new plants in many innovative settings.
