Penn College Commencement Set for Dec. 18

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 18, for the 380 students who have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2010 semester.

The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport.

The student speaker is Eric D. Felker, of Littlestown, who will receive a bachelor's degree in information technology: web and applications development concentration.

Felker also received an associate degree in computer information systems: networking and technical support from Penn College in May 2004. He was honored with the M&T Bank Annual Award that year. He is a recipient of a National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent (SMART) Grant scholarship and the New Economy Technology Scholarship. He has worked for the college as a computer lab assistant and as a Web content developer Work Study student.

Also speaking at the ceremony will be Dennis F. Ringling, professor of forestry in the School of Natural Resources Management, who was honored with the college's Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award in May.

Ringling, lead faculty for forestry since 2006, has taught at Penn College since 1972. He was also awarded an Excellence in Teaching Award in 1991. He holds a Doctorate of Education from Temple University and a Master of Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He earned two bachelor's degrees from Penn State.

During the ceremony, Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour will present a Distinguished Alumni Award on behalf of the college.

Gilmour will be joined by Steven P. Johnson, a member of the Penn College Board of Directors and president and CEO of Susquehanna Health, as she confers degrees and certificates upon the graduates.
