Faculty members in the welding technology department at Pennsylvania College of Technology have established a scholarship fund to support their students.
Donald O. Praster, interim dean of industrial and engineering technologies, said the Penn College Welding Faculty Scholarship will generate an annual award of $500.
"Our welding faculty members are very committed to seeing our students succeed, and this scholarship is just one of the many examples of their commitment to their students and the welding program," Praster said. "This is a great opportunity for our welding students − to assist them in succeeding in a career field that is in very much demand."
The recipient of the annual Penn College Welding Faculty Scholarship award will be chosen from applicants who are enrolled full time in the college's welding certificate, welding technology associate-degree, or welding and fabrication engineering technology bachelor-degree majors. Applicants must have completed at least one year of their welding major and must have a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.
