An alumnus is giving back to Pennsylvania College of Technology by establishing a new scholarship fund at the college.
Nathan J. Snavely, of Berwick, a 2000 graduate of Penn College's business administration bachelor-degree major, has established the Nathan J. Snavely Achievement in Business Scholarship Fund.
The fund will provide a $250 annual scholarship award to a full-time student enrolled in Penn College's business management associate-degree major or the college's business administration: management concentration bachelor-degree major.
Preference will be given to students who reside in Columbia County and who demonstrate superior business, marketing, sales and entrepreneurial skills.
Snavely is the owner of Nathan J. Snavely Inc., Berwick, a Nationwide Insurance agency established in 2002.
"During my tenure at Penn College, there were many individuals who encouraged, supported and mentored me," said Snavely. "It's my hope that, in some small way, I can encourage others during a very strategic time in their life."
The first award from the Nathan J. Snavely Achievement in Business Scholarship will be made for the Fall 2007 semester.
"I'm very excited about this new scholarship," said Joann Kay, executive director of the Penn College Foundation. "Alumni support is an important part of our efforts to help students succeed, and it is wonderful to see an alumnus moving to this level of commitment in supporting our students."
