Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will host an open house on April 24 for those interested in nursing as a career. The event will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and will feature tours of the campus (located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6), opportunities to speak with administration and faculty, as well as information about the application process, tuition and financial aid for the noncredit, vocational program.

Information about nursing programs of study at Penn College's main campus in Williamsport also will be available.

The North Campus practical nursing program, which is offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, was developed for learners of all ages who want to improve their employment outlook in health care. Participants attend classes at the North Campus and have clinical experiences at Laurel Health System facilities.

Excellent career opportunities exist in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal-care facilities and human-service organizations.

The campus is accepting applications for the next class, which is scheduled to begin Jan. 2. Pre-admission testing will be held on June 22, July 17 and July 20.

The North Campus program is fully approved by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Students who successfully complete the program will be prepared to take the National Council Licensure Exam for licensure as an LPN.

Advance-placement credits earned upon passing the exam may be applied toward the nursing degrees offered at Penn College's main campus.
