Developmental education is a field of practice and research within higher education with a theoretical foundation in developmental psychology and learning theory. It promotes the cognitive and affective growth of all postsecondary learners, at all levels of the learning continuum.
For that purpose, PADE (a state chapter of the National Association of Developmental Educators) provides a forum for postsecondary educators, learning-assistance staff, counselors and administrators who help learners at all levels of preparedness realize their full academic potential.
Community colleges, four-year public and private colleges and universities, and two year non-community colleges throughout Pennsylvania and neighboring states have PADE members. Board meetings are held at least four times a year.
