The quilt was handmade by Ann Durinzi, a Penn College alumna and retiree, who has contributed countless hours over the past several yearsin crafting the annual "Relay for Life" quilt.

This year's creation has an even more special meaning, however, as it was made in memory of her sister, Jean R. Knowlden, who died last June after a four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.

Durinzi said Our Gathering Place, a quilting-supply store in Montoursville, donated the backing for the quilt, which will be raffled June 18 what would have been her sister's 72nd birthday.

The "Relay for Life" will be held June 17-18 at the Williamsport Area High School football field.
