Memorial Quilt to Be Raffled June 18 to Benefit Cancer Society
Ticket-sellers are needed for the raffle of this Pink Ribbon Quilt, to be given away during next month's "Relay for Life" event to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The quilt was handmade by Ann Durinzi, a Penn College alumna and retiree, who has contributed countless hours over the past several yearsin crafting the annual "Relay for Life" quilt.
This year's creation has an even more special meaning, however, as it was made in memory of her sister, Jean R. Knowlden, who died last June after a four-and-a-half-year battle with cancer.
Durinzi said Our Gathering Place, a quilting-supply store in Montoursville, donated the backing for the quilt, which will be raffled June 18 what would have been her sister's 72nd birthday.
The "Relay for Life" will be held June 17-18 at the Williamsport Area High School football field.
Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5. Anyone interested in selling them should contact Carol Hill .
Tickets still are available for the "Relay" gift-basket raffle, featuring the impressive work of 30 campus offices and organizations. A list of those baskets and the sites where tickets are being sold is available here . That drawing also will be held June 18 at the high school.
