'Cat Tales Baseball Chris Faerber (Newport) went 2-for-3 at the plate and Kyle Newberry (Valley View) homered as the Wildcats dropped the first game of a doubleheader against Bucks, but Penn College rebounded in the nightcap as Robert Petrosky (Jersey Shore) and Mike Daciw (Sun Valley) each went 4-for-4. Daciw tripled and drove in three runs. In a doubleheader sweep of Lehigh Carbon, Faerber continued his hot hitting, going 4-for-5 in the two games, and Petrosky was 2-for-3 in the second game. On the mound, Andy Blauvalt (Horseheads, N.Y.) tossed a six-hit shutout in Game One and in the nightcap Jared Rabell (Northwestern) allowed just four hits.

The Wildcats need to win one of their games Tuesday against Penn State Wilkes-Barre to qualify for the playoffs.

Softball In a doubleheader loss to Penn State-Berks, Stacy Cochran (Williamsport) went 2-for-2 in the first game while Angie Hunter (Williamsport) and Mandy Thompson (Bellefonte) had run-scoring doubles in the second game.

The Lady Wildcats snapped a four-game loss streak with a late-week sweep of Delaware. Leading Penn College was Kristen Proctor (State College), who went 6-for-7 at the plate with three doubles.

Penn College needs to win one of its games Wednesday at Luzerne to qualify for the playoffs.

Men' Volleyball Penn College closed out the regular portion of its schedule with its third straight tournament victory (it beat Delaware County Community College in the finale) and earned the right to host the end-of-the-season championships Sunday at Bardo Gymnasium.
