In three seasons under Coach Bambi Hawkins, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women's volleyball team has made steady progress. This year, Hawkins hopes to take things up yet another notch.

Last year, the Lady Wildcats went 9-10 overall and 7-7 in the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference, where they just missed making the playoffs.

"I'm really excited. I have a lot of girls with experience . . . We're looking to add a couple of more girls to ensure that we make the playoffs," said Hawkins.

Sophomore returnees are Rachel Bond (middle or outside hitter/St. Marys) and Amber Geckle (setter/Indian Valley).

"They have maturity and leadership capabilities, in addition to their strong skills," the coach said.

A sophomore newcomer is Amy McPeek (hitter/Muncy), while freshmen include Michelle Miller (outside hitter/Jersey Shore), Maria McNett (defensive specialist/Canton), Diane Cadau (outside hitter/Shenandoah Valley), Courtney Eisenhofer (middle hitter/Schuylkill Valley), Melani Grady (setter/Youngsville), Holly Rau (middle hitter/Tunkhannock), Elizabeth Mast (hitter-setter/Morgantown) and Emily Weaver (hitter-defensive specialist/Ephrata).

"We've filled the positions. ... We have people who can do it all. It's pretty exciting," Hawkins added.

Assisting Hawkins with team coaching duties this season is Michelle Bower.
