Third Annual 'Pride Ride' to Feature Cars, Motorcycles

Car enthusiasts will join their motorcycling counterparts this year for a tour through the scenic northcentral Pennsylvania countryside on the Third Annual "Pride Ride" at Pennsylvania College of Technology on Sunday, May 6.
What had been a motorcycles-only event to raise money for the Pride Ride Scholarship Fund at Penn College, has been expanded this year to include car entries. Last year's Pride Ride raised $3,400 for the scholarship fund at the College. A total of 300 people and 180 motorcycles were registered for 2000 Pride Ride event.
A roundtrip ride of 85 miles is planned for cyclists participating in this year's event. The course for cars will be about half that length. While the ride/cruise is the highlight of the day, plenty of other activities are planned for the rain-or-shine program, including a car and cycle show and an ox roast lunch.
Registration will take place from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., and a Christian Motorcycle Association service is set for 9:30 a.m. The ride/cruise will depart between 10 and 10:30 a.m. Registration for the car and cycle show will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
From 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the ox roast lunch will be available. The car and cycle show will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., with judging scheduled to commence at 1:15 p.m. Bike classes to be judged are: Classic, Dresser, Cruiser, Trike and Rat. Car trophies will be awarded by popular choice.
Included in the entrance fee ($15 for one car/cycle and driver; $30 for a car/cycle, driver and passengers) will be route sheets, coffee and donuts at registration, the ox roast lunch, a Pride Ride T-shirt (for those pre-registered) and entertainment. Those registering bikes will receive free pins. Those registering cars will receive free key chains. In addition, door prizes will be awarded. Additional meals will be available at the event.
The Pride Ride Scholarship for 2000-01 was awarded to Colleen M. Krall of Watsontown, a sophomore majoring in Business Administration-Management Concentration at Penn College. Krall is the mother of two daughters who also attend Penn College.
