Pennsylvania College of Technology's Food Services Department captured second and third places in the 25th annual National Association of College and University Food Services Dining Awards Contest. The awards were earned for The Bistro and The CoffeeHouse operations, which competed in the small-school division's category of "Specialty Restaurant." Both operations are located in the College's Bush Campus Center.

Comprised of more than 600 colleges and universities from across the country, NACUFS is the only higher-education association in the United States devoted exclusively to promoting the highest quality of food service at member institutions. Each year, the highly competitive Dining Awards Contest is held to promote creativity and recognize outstanding menus, facilities, and special events.

In another matter, the Food Services Department was recently placed on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Honor Roll in recognition of its "outstanding support for AIDS in the workplace education programs." The national status was attained after the Food Services operation submitted its bloodborne pathogens/AIDS training program to the center's "Business and Labor Responds to AIDS" competition.
