Linda Locher

Dr. Locher joined the Penn College Counseling Services staff in August 2017. She is a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education from Dickinson College, her Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology and in Guidance and Counseling from The Ohio State University and her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University. Prior to coming to Penn College Dr. Locher counseled students and directed services at Bucknell University, James Madison University and the University of Rochester. In addition to her college counseling and administrative experience, she has taught college courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Locher’s areas of interest include working with students dealing with depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship and communication difficulties, self-confidence, and academic effectiveness. Her approach to therapy integrates cognitive behavioral, positive psychology and solution focused orientations. She works with individuals’ strengths and looks to add to their skills and resources. Celebration, gratitude and self-care concepts are incorporated within her work to enhance individuals’ lives and personal satisfaction.
