The media around the country are reflecting the concerns of parents and students about the rising costs of a college education.

Four Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball players have been awarded Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference postseason honors. Cited for their contributions during the recently completed season were pitchers Travis Pena (Williamsport), Ryan Weller (Fallston, Md.) and Andy Roth (Catasauqua) and outfielder Mike Daciw (Sun Valley). All four are freshmen.

Getting a head start on their college education will also mean saving money on tuition costs for students who take advantage of a new program approved Thursday by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors has awarded construction contracts totaling $7.33 million for renovations at the former HON manufacturing facility a project that will enable the College to create state-of-the-art instructional space for an additional 100 students.

When representatives of Allison Transmission, Division of General Motors, and Penn Detroit Diesel-Allison donated another $7,500 to Pennsylvania College of Technology recently, they also brought along something just as valuable: recognition of the College's Diesel Technology program as a training tool for industry technicians.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, the Wildcat men's and women's cross country teams will run at Penn State-Scranton in the EPCC Championships, while, at 11 a.m. Monday, the College's golf team will have three players seeded among the Top 10 at Golden Oakes in Fleetwood.

Prospective students and their families will have an opportunity to learn more about Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special-mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University in Williamsport, at Fall Visitation Day, to be held Sunday, Oct. 27. Information sessions, campus tours, career counseling and other activities are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Technology Transfer Center will offer a special four-hour Hatha Yoga Asana Workshop on Saturday, Nov. 2, taught by two certified yoga instructors. The session will be held from 8 a.m. to noon in the Mountain Laurel Room of the Thompson Professional Development Center on the main campus of Penn College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's "Art on Campus" initiative has acquired four additional paintings from area artists. The pieces were purchased during the Bald Eagle Art League Show and Competition, which was held on the College's main campus in June. The show is part of the Susquehanna Valley Festival of the Arts.
