A Tuesday artist's talk and reception marked the first week of the "Vessels of Life" exhibit of mixed-media drawings by Kim Banister. The exhibit, in the Gallery at Penn College (Madigan Library, third floor), runs through Dec. 2. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
Approximately 300 people attended the John Prendergast talk Tuesday night in the ACC Auditorium. Prendergast, a renowned human-rights proponent and author of eight books on Africa, offered an engaging view of the crisis in Darfur, and many insightful questions were posed during the Q&A. The Energy Conservation Subcommittee of the Facilities Governance Committee conducted a very successful contest about smart energy use. A total of 112 faculty, staff and students replied, and the award committee delivered prizes to the top two contestants Wednesday. Bambi A. Hawkins, learning lab coordinator of the paramedic program, won first prize with nine correct answers.
