High school students visitingPenn Collegefor the latest session of Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week are being treated to a full menu of entertaining programs and valuable presentations.

About 320 high school students from across the commonwealth converged on Penn College's main campus Sunday for Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week, an intensive program that employs corporate mentors and motivational speakers to educate teenagers about success in the competitive international marketplace.

A graduation ceremony was held recently for students completing the medical (office) assistant program offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Thirteen students completed the program, a nine-month clock-hour training that prepares participants for employment in medical offices and clinics.

C. Hank White, director of the Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently accepted the 2009 Society of Plastics Engineers Gold Pinnacle Award on behalf of SPE's Rotational Molding Division. SPE divisions are technical groups organized around a specific process or application in the plastics industry.

A Summer Commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, for the nearly 250 Pennsylvania College of Technology students who have petitioned to graduate after the summer sessions. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Andrew R. Christoffel, of Lancaster, has been selected as the student speaker for the ceremony.

The fifth Governor's Institute on Career Education and Work drew 88 teachers and school district administrators to Pennsylvania College of Technology in June.

Jeannette Carter, director of Outreach for K-12 at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was invited to offer remarks during an awards ceremony for graduating seniors at the Northumberland County Career and Technology Center in Coal Township.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus has received four grants totaling more than $46,000 to award scholarships to participants enrolled in its practical nursing program, which begins annually in January.
