Penn College nursing, paramedic and physician assistant students volunteered to staff free flu clinics offered throughout Lycoming County last week, during which 466 influenza and 39 pneumonia vaccinations were given to county residents. A Pittsburgh-based landscaping company has provided a boost to a growing scholarship fund for students studying landscape technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Daniel Eichenlaub, president of Eichenlaub Inc. Landscape Contractor, visited Penn College's Earth Science Center near Allenwood recently to present a check for $1,000 to support the Richard J. Weilminster Scholarship Fund.

The TRIO Student Support Services Program at Pennsylvania College of Technology − which helps low-income or first-generation students and those with disabilities stay in college and earn degrees − has been funded 100 percent for 2007-08 by a $230,969 grant from the U.S. Department of Education. TRIO Student Support Services is designed to serve 160 students per year at Penn College.

The festive and creative holiday cards displayed along Penn College's pedestrian mall were lighted in a traditional ceremony outside the ATHS on Wednesday night, and this year's winners in the student and employee categories were announced. Penn College students who were born at the Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center, and who graduated from high school this year, may be eligible for a one-time $500 scholarship award from the Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center Campus of Susquehanna Health. The scholarship awards will be made only to students enrolled at Penn College within one year of their high school graduation.
