Members of SkillsUSA's Penn College chapter showed their community spirit on Oct. 14, participating in community service for SouthernCare. Activities included washing windows and yardwork for a local family. SkillsUSA is a national organization that provides a landscape of competitions in various occupational fields. Penn College students and employees are reminded that they can help both the environment and Penn College's general scholarship fund by recycling empty printer and fax cartridges on campus. The recycling program accepts empty fax cartridges and inkjet and laser-printer cartridges made by HP, Lexmark, Canon, Dell, Epson and Brother.

Kaitlin M. Shellenberger was announced as September's "Member of the Month" at Phi Beta Lambda'sOct. 10 meeting. Shellenberger, a pre-nursing major from Roaring Branch, regularly attends meetings and participates with fund-raisers and activities while handling her studies. Her reward was a Penn College Gift Bag filled with a college car sticker, keychain and lanyard, and a 1GB thumb drive.
