The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is accepting applications from students participating in study abroad programs during the Fall 2009 semester (or the 2009-10 academic year). The application, which is due April 7,is available online.

About three dozen pupils from Lyter Elementary School in the Montoursville Area School District this week toured the GraphicCommunications areaof the Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center. Pennsylvania College of Technology's Children's Learning Center has received a Keystone Stars Merit Award of $49,570 for 2008-09. The center uses the funds for staff development, the purchase of toys and furniture for the children, accreditation-related expenses, special health and nutrition activities, and family events.
It wasn't pretty and both teams combined for 29 fouls, but, in the end, Penn College came out on top in Thursday's intramural basketball game against Lycoming College 41-38 in overtime. According to a game summary by Jeremy R. Bottorf, intramural assistant, Penn College trailed by as many as 13 before gathering itself and chipping away at the lead.
Penn College inducted its fourth group of Awesome Women Exemplars this week, honoring employees and students for their inspirational presence on campus. In accordance with this year's theme, "Women Taking the Lead in Saving the World," all students, faculty and staff were encouraged to nominate any Penn College female they admire.
Joe Simon, a junior guard-forward on the Penn College men's basketball team, has been awarded Penn State University Athletic Conference Honorable Mention honors. Simon, a business management student from Renovo, scored 382 points during the Wildcats' 18-12 season that included a sixth-place finish in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association national tournament.
Pennsylvania College of Technology recently launched its first official social-networking presence online. The Pennsylvania College of Technology page on Facebook, first announced by college President Davie Jane Gilmour in a campuswide meeting in January, allows prospective students to interact with the college in a familiar setting.
Kathleen R. "Kat" Watson, a work-study student at Penn College's Children's Learning Center, recently showed the children how Native Americans dance to drum music, then invited them to join her. The pre-practical nursing major from Cogan Station also brought many Native American items to show the children.
Three Pennsylvania College of Technology student groups hope to raise $10,000 during next month's Walk-It-Out, a mini-Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society. The second annual event sponsored by the Wildcat Events Board, the Residence Hall Association and the Student Government Association will be held at noon Saturday, April 25, on the Madigan Library lawn.
