The exhilarating world of off-road racing captivated competitors and fans at Baja SAE Williamsport, hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology May 16-19. Attracting 102 collegiate engineering teams from across the U.S., Canada and Brazil, the event concluded Sunday afternoon with an awards ceremony following the competition’s signature event, the four-hour endurance race. Penn College's team finished an impressive fourth in the final contest and 10th overall.

Over the past week, three Pennsylvania College of Technology spring sports teams got a taste at the top, two (men’s golf and women’s softball) in NCAA Division III national and regional competitions, respectively, and the third (archery) at the outdoor national championships as the 2023-24 athletic seasons came to a close.

Day one of Baja SAE Williamsport kicked off on Thursday with ideal spring weather and high spirits, as the 100+ teams made their way from Penn College's main campus in Williamsport to the competition venue at the college's Heavy Construction Equipment Operations Site in Brady Township. There, teams registered, settled into their paddocks, socialized with fellow competitors, and took their cars to SAE's tech inspection and engine check stations.

Novatec Inc. renewed its entrustment agreement with Penn College for equipment used in the school’s renowned polymer engineering program.

Blue skies and a gentle breeze greeted Old Glory Thursday morning on its return "flight" atop the 120-foot pole in front of the Davie Jane Gilmour Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Due to a broken cable, the large American flag had not been flying since late Saturday. Thank you to Allison Crane & Rigging for its support, supplying the crane needed for repairs!

’Twas the night before Baja, and Penn College's main campus in Williamsport was hopping with pre-competition excitement. Penn College’s Baja SAE team members were stoked to welcome the visitors and proud to show off their labs, including the Baja Room. Guests were impressed.
