Vol. 8, No. 12 (Through Sunday, Nov. 1) Wildcat Tales Four Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams will compete for national championships this week. The men's and women's cross-country teams will vie for United States Collegiate Athletic Association titles Friday in Concord, N.H., while the men's and women's soccer teams play Friday through Sunday at Randolph Center, Vt.

Students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will dedicate proceeds from an upcoming bread and pastry sale to a memorial fund for a former classmate. The Baking and Pastry Arts Application class will dedicate its Nov. 13 sale to raising funds for the Akacia Klick Memorial Fund.

The Penn College student chapter of the American Welding Society recently toured the Shady Grove manufacturing facility of Manitowoc Cranes, thanks to company representatives Jacob Sensinger and Sammy Munuswamy. The students were able to see all aspects of the mobile crane manufacturer.

For students interested in finding out how their college, community college or university credits will transfer to Pennsylvania College of Technology, the college is offering two Transfer Information Sessions on Friday, Nov. 20. The sessions will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Student and Administrative Services Center on Penn College's main campus in Williamsport.

The Penn College men's soccer team advanced to the Penn State University Athletic Conference championship game for the fifth straight season with a 2-0 home win Wednesday over Penn State Beaver. In Saturday's 2 p.m. finale, the Wildcats will travel to Penn State York, which eliminated Penn State Hazleton, 4-1, on Thursday.

Katherine A. Walker, assistant professor of drafting and computer aided design at Pennsylvania College of Technology, spoke at the Oct. 8 graduation ceremony at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy. Walker is a longtime member of the institution's academic advisory committee.

While this year's squad may not have as much depth as in the past, Pennsylvania College of Technology coed bowling team coach Deb Vincenzes is optimistic of another successful season. The Wildcats open Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference play on Tuesday at Faxon Lanes in Loyalsock Township.

A Bucks County company is reaffirming its long-standing relationship with Pennsylvania College of Technology through a revised scholarship agreement. Bracalente Manufacturing Co. Inc. will continue to provide an annual award of $1,000 to a Penn College student through the Bracalente Manufacturing Scholarship, which was established in 1996.
