Pennsylvania College of Technology will host an April 24 session to encourage a continuing interest in science and math by 10th- and 11th-grade girls. Penn College's Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies (SMART Girls) project was developed to counter girls' worrisome tendency to shun math and the sciences as they move through their crucial high school years.

As this week's Green Tip, Penn College's Energy Conservation Subcommittee announces National Cell Phone Recycling Week (April 5-11), a joint effort of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Plug-in to eCycling. The energy saved by recycling one cellphone is enough to power a laptop computer for 44 hours.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Penn College Resident Assistants hosted a Spring Fair at the Campbell Street Community Center. RAs conducted activities that included face-painting, duck pond, bowling, hula-hoop contest, treat walk, coloring table, Play-Doh table, egg-dyeing, ball toss and more. The event was open to the public and drew a number of participants from the community.

The International Programs Office, Cultural Life Committee and Multicultural Society hosted a student reception from 5-8 p.m. March 16 in Penn's Inn. The reception was held to gather international students, students from the Multicultural Society and others in the campus community who are involved in programs that support Penn College students from other countries.
