It might not have been the finish he was hoping for, but Pennsylvania College of Technology golf coach Matt Haile saw some good things from his team on Tuesday's final day of the Penn State University Athletic Conference/United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships.

Pennsylvania College of Technology honored graduating members from the Wildcat tennis, men's soccer and cross-country teams during Saturday's Homecoming activities. Tennis was honored prior to its match against Penn State Brandywine, while men's soccer and cross-country Senior Days were held during the men's soccer match against Penn State York.

After Monday's first round in the Penn State University Athletic Conference/United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships, Penn College was in ninth place, 44 strokes off the pace of Rochester College in the USCAA portion of the event, and forth in the PSUAC tourney, 20 strokes behind Penn State Mont Alto.

Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer a pumpkin-carving demonstration competition-style and serve food samples made with fresh, local ingredients during "Customer Appreciation Day" at the Williamsport Outdoor Growers Market on Oct. 22. Students enrolled in the college's Catering course will offer cooking demonstrations and samples beginning at 8 a.m.

Depression Awareness Week (Oct. 14-21) wishes to bring hope and information about vital resources to those who suffer from depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide and other mental-health issues. The week's events also are intended to promote healing for those that have been affected in any way by suicide.

Paced by the women's volleyball team that won four of its five matches, Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams went 8-4 last week, and the golf team, which is entered in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association championships Monday and Tuesday on the Penn State Blue Course, won in its final tune-up.

The first quarter of Friday's Powder Puff Football Game started off much better for the upper-class women than it did for the guys the previous night ... but, as intramural assistant Jeremy R. Bottorf notes, there is a reason why four quarters are played. Maggie Calkins connected on a pass to Jenna Harner to put the upperclassmen on the verge of scoring early in the first quarter.
